The weather claimed my ride at Pontefract today, as the meeting was abandoned due to a waterlogged course.
Not all bad news though, was able to enjoy a large lunch!

Have had a quiet few days, getting prepared for Autumn now. The fire is on, and Belle has a new winter coat. She now has more than me.
Have a few rides booked this week, and as the flat season draws to a close, I am already looking forward to the All Weather programme getting into full swing!
The autumn weather is playing havoc with my plans, missing out on more than one opportunity over the last couple of days because of the ground conditions.
Very frustrating but that’s racing!
Already looking forward to a some great rides coming up this week including a few old favourites, Normandy Barriere, Sheepscar Lad and Our Little Pony!
I had a fantastic day at Newmarket yesterday, riding for the boss. I feel very privileged and so grateful to be receiving such amazing opportunities from the stable and the wonderful owners.
Had a much more relaxing day today, chilling out with Belle, taking her for a paddle then sharing an ice cream.
Just preparing for a busy week ahead, Scotland tomorrow then back to Beverley for a couple of rides on Tuesday. I am ready for a return to the winners enclosure!
Very long and busy day today, I was up at 5AM and travelled to Wolverhampton racecourse to take part in the barrier trials.
I was back in Malton in time for evening stables, then cooked what must be the worlds healthiest meal!
Need to keep my strength up before teaming up again with Sheepscar Lad at Beverley tomorrow, a ride I am really looking forward to.
Had great fun at the Malton Open Day today, taking part in the jockeys showjumping competition. Borrowed the silks of one of my favourites Allux Boy to compete in.
A big Thank You to Emma Dwan, allowing me to borrow Jack for the day. He was brilliant!
Back to the flat tomorrow, looking forward to riding at Thirsk.
So happy to have won on Singe Anglais at Carlisle this afternoon. Third time this season we have been successful.
Thanks again to the owners for another wonderful opportunity.
Had a varied day on Sunday.
Put in some showjumping practice before the jockey’s competition at Malton Open Day next weekend, and then enjoyed a good ride on board Hovingham at York in the afternoon. I am very grateful to the owners for these opportunities.
A few rides coming up this week, looking forward to getting back in that winners enclosure soon!
Had a great night out with the team racing Go Karts. The racing was a bit rough, with plenty of penalties handed out. There would have been a few stewards enquiries and suspensions handed out if that was repeated on the racecourse!
Thankfully we all came out unscathed and will be ready for work in the morning. Time for a run with Belle now, really looking forward to a busy and hopefully successful weekend.
It has been a pretty quiet week for rides, so I have been keeping fit in the gym and doing lots of riding out.
Went to visit my Queen, Our Little Pony, together with Belle obviously. They are very fond of each other. Then it was time for brunch, unfortunately horses were not allowed in but Belle has her own chair!
Looking forward to a busy few days, with hopefully some good rides over the weekend at Musselburgh, Thirsk and York.
Taking full advantage of the situation while Helen is away showing.
Took the opportunity to steal a ride on Normandy Barriere and we enjoyed a canter around the track.
Hopefully she will forgive me when she gets back…..?
At Beverley, Sheepscar Lad and Bashiba catching up at the start before taking part in the 5f sprint.
You can see Sheepscar Lad looking over his shoulder, keeping a watchful eye on Bashiba and Izzy!
He ran his usual good race and finished 3rd. I can’t complain, making the frame on both rides today, but I look forward to getting back into the winners enclosure!
So far so good.
The penny seems to have dropped for Violette Szabo on her 3rd start at Beverley today. She flew up the hill to finish 3rd at very generous odds.
She fluffed the start on both of her first two outings and had not beaten another horse, but we saw a different horse today who did her wonderful owners proud.
Tenax ran another good race and we were placed again.
Better than my Scotland experience today. All the way to Hamilton, the ground turned very heavy before the first which didn’t suit my first ride, and my second ride never even came out of the stalls!
A jockey’s life is full of ups and downs, so here is hoping it is an up tomorrow when it is back to Beverley for Beverley Bullet Day to ride a couple including Sheepscar Lad and Violette Szabo.
Back on board Tenax today and looking forward to riding him at Carlisle this afternoon. We have raced together a few times this season, and had a win and plenty of placed efforts, so hoping for another good run.
Then it’s north of the border tomorrow, up to Hamilton in an attempt to complete a hat trick with Singe Anglais, following our wins at Beverley and Ripon.
Great to be back at Beverley, and back into the winners enclosure again on board Northern Lyte.
She has shown many times before that she enjoys it at Beverley, and we were winning there together for the second time this season.
It is fantastic to end the week on a high note, and I am really looking forward to a few rides in the week ahead, starting tomorrow at Ripon.
Here is Belle showing a good turn of foot to keep up with me as we enjoy a run together this morning.
Then we are heading off to Beverley this afternoon, to hopefully ride a winner.
I have a couple of rides, Blue Lyte and Northern Lyte who both have course experience.
It was a privilege to be at York yesterday to see Enable win the Yorkshire Oaks, and to ride my own Queen on the Knavesmire.
I am really looking forward to the weekend, starting with a ride at York today, Newmarket tomorrow daytime, up to Redcar tomorrow evening, then back to Beverley for the Sunday meeting. Its great to be busy!
Will need plenty of snacks for Belle. She is as excited as me about our journey ahead!
It has been a quiet week on the track, but great to back at York today, and to see the Queen Of The Turf.
I am of course referring to the one and only Our Little Pony.
It will also be amazing to witness Enable as she takes on Magical in the Yorkshire Oaks, her last appearance in this country, where she attempts to win her 10th Group 1 race!
Have just been out with Cliff for our last ride together before he heads off to his new home and his retirement.
I will of course be keeping in touch with him, so it’s not goodbye forever.
