Some great artistic talent on view from groom Belinda Johnson on the hind quarters as Athollblair Boy and Izzy go to post at Doncaster.

All but one of the horses in the race enjoyed a view of it as he ran his usual great race to finish second by a fast diminishing head!

Bashiba's Perfect Ten

Stable favourite Bashiba was back in the winners enclosure today, gaining his 10th career win under Rowan at Musselburgh.

That is 37 stable winners for the year so far, equalling our previous best number of flat winners trained in a season. Having raced for us in the past 7 consecutive seasons, there was no more fitting horse to do this than Bashiba.

A stressful time for the trainer as the stable staff prepare for an evening racing, swapping horses for Go Karts flying around the track!

Thankfully, there were no casualties, and the stable horses will be mucked out and ridden out as usual in the morning.

And only fair to point out that Rowan was the winner.

It is busy time at the stable this week, with plenty of activity at the sales looking to buy next years winners.

This new arrival, a chestnut colt by Mayson, is taking a peak around the stable door to greet some of his new stablemates arriving.

Or maybe he is just looking for his new owner?

It could be you!

His half sister Near Kettering has won twice in the last month, August 2019.

Patience Is A Virtue

The patience of owner David Aarons was rewarded when Flying Raconteur gained his first career win at Ripon this afternoon under Lewis Edmunds.

The now 5 year old gelding who never raced as a 2 year old, ran 3 times as a 3 year old, and missed his entire 4 year old campaign, was produced with a late run to stay on well and win by a length.

Northern Lyte wins again today at Beverley, well ridden by Faye.

She clearly enjoys the Beverley track and has been placed there on a few occasions this season, so winning there for the second time was well deserved.

That takes the season tally for the stable to 35.

Normandy Landed.

Norman has arrived at Newmarket before his race , and has everything crossed that the rain stays away.

Izzy Clifton is on board as he seeks his 7th career win. This partnership have been 3rd and 2nd on their 2 previous attempts, and hoping to go one better this evening.

Having had a kiss from Helen as he begins his pre race relaxation, he is already a winner!

Bertie & Archie Go Close

Archie Perkins was back at Beverley today where he has had great success for owners Stewart Perkins and John Raybould. He ran another great race on Ladies Day and was just beaten into second place. He was attempting to win his 4th race of the season, but it’s not over yet!

That followed a great run earlier from Bertie’s Princess who finished well to be runner up. Two seconds in a row for the stable and Rowan.

Let’s see if Rowan can go one better in the next race, and if Dutch Coed can make it 4 for the season?

Happy Retirement Cliff

Cliff heads off into a well deserved happy retirement.

He has been racing with us now for 6 season, winning 5 times.

He was a bit of a late starter, not making his debut until the age of 4, but he made up for lost time, making 66 racecourse appearances, and now retires at the age of 9.

This is the moment he found out he was retiring. He seems to be ok with it.

He has brought a lot of joy to a lot of people, owners, jockeys, stable staff, and occasionally punters, and he will be missed by everyone.

Gagnant Trente Trois

Winner Thirty Three for the season.

Singe Anglais, (English Monkey) wins for owners Geoff Maidment and John Raybould at Thirsk this evening.

A son of Footstepsinthesand, this is his 2nd career win following a victory on his last start at Beverley.

Ridden again by Faye McManoman, who made the decision to stick in a group of 4 racing up the far side, and it proved to be a wise one.

Major Win

Carrying the same colours as Ginger Jam, Citron Major makes it 32 stable winners so far this season.

In a thrilling finish, Rowan timed a late burst to perfection to get up on the line at Windsor. This was the 2nd win of the season for Citron Major, the 5th of his career,

Citron Major and Ginger Jam, are both by the same sire Major Cadeaux.
