Bertie & Archie Go Close

Archie Perkins was back at Beverley today where he has had great success for owners Stewart Perkins and John Raybould. He ran another great race on Ladies Day and was just beaten into second place. He was attempting to win his 4th race of the season, but it’s not over yet!

That followed a great run earlier from Bertie’s Princess who finished well to be runner up. Two seconds in a row for the stable and Rowan.

Let’s see if Rowan can go one better in the next race, and if Dutch Coed can make it 4 for the season?

Happy Retirement Cliff

Cliff heads off into a well deserved happy retirement.

He has been racing with us now for 6 season, winning 5 times.

He was a bit of a late starter, not making his debut until the age of 4, but he made up for lost time, making 66 racecourse appearances, and now retires at the age of 9.

This is the moment he found out he was retiring. He seems to be ok with it.

He has brought a lot of joy to a lot of people, owners, jockeys, stable staff, and occasionally punters, and he will be missed by everyone.

Gagnant Trente Trois

Winner Thirty Three for the season.

Singe Anglais, (English Monkey) wins for owners Geoff Maidment and John Raybould at Thirsk this evening.

A son of Footstepsinthesand, this is his 2nd career win following a victory on his last start at Beverley.

Ridden again by Faye McManoman, who made the decision to stick in a group of 4 racing up the far side, and it proved to be a wise one.

Major Win

Carrying the same colours as Ginger Jam, Citron Major makes it 32 stable winners so far this season.

In a thrilling finish, Rowan timed a late burst to perfection to get up on the line at Windsor. This was the 2nd win of the season for Citron Major, the 5th of his career,

Citron Major and Ginger Jam, are both by the same sire Major Cadeaux.

Barking Up The Wrong Tree

The stable was doubly represented in the Bark De Triomphe at Beverley racecourse today, with mixed results.

Nancy ran very green, took ages for the penny to drop as she ran from one side of course to the other, but finished well to show some promise.

Belle broke well and cruised along in the first half of the race, before losing the plot, misbehaving badly, and starting a fight after crossing the finishing line. The stewards will no doubt be having a closer look.

Triple Double

Always nice to have a winner at York, and Triple Distilled made it 2 in 2 weeks for owner John Saville.

Rowan Scott rode again, and in the testing conditions, timed his run perfectly to get up on the line in the final race of the day. That was winner number 30 for the stable this year.

The horse’s half brother Abstemious won an earlier race on the card so the signs were good.

Nice to finish a very busy weekend for the team on a winner. A special mention must go to Kaeso who finished a very close up second in the Moet & Chandon International Stakes at Ascot.

Kaeso Again

Hollie Doyle travelled from riding at Newmarket this afternoon to ride at Doncaster this evening.

The journey was worthwhile as she rode Kaeso to a convincing victory, the second time they have teamed up together to win.

Kaeso was winning the 8th race of his career from only 24 starts, a very impressive one in three strike rate.
