The Trainer

Nigel is from a racing family and has trained well over 1000 winners, including 2 Cheltenham Festival winners, group winners on the flat and many prestigious handicaps.

Nigel was a jockey, rode his first winner at 15 and at 16 had ridden flat, hurdle and chase winners. He rode over 200 winners, including at Cheltenham and at the major meetings.

He started training in 1982 and for a time both trained and rode his own horses, and then decided to concentrate entirely on training.

Nigel’s wife Kim was a very successful jockey who now is a major part of the running of the stables.

In 2020, Nigel reached new heights, with stable star Ubettabelieveit landing Group 2 glory at Doncaster. Listed scorer, Acklam Express, was also campaigned to great success on home soil, before a fruitful spell in Dubai.

In 2021, Nigel recorded his highest yearly tally of winners on the flat, totaling 41. Highlights include a 65,024-1 across-the-card four-timer at Beverley and Redcar in August.
